Lacey, WA — Sunset Air has been recognized as the 2026 Thurston Green Large Business of the Year by the Thurston County Chamber of Commerce. The award was presented at Saint Martin’s University in Lacey on April 8, 2026, recognizing the company’s leadership in building electrification and renewable energy adoption across Thurston County.

Founded in 1976 by Peter and Kathy Fluetsch in a garage in Tumwater, Sunset Air has grown into a third-generation family business serving homeowners and businesses across South Puget Sound. The company employs approximately 150 team members, with an average tenure of over 10 years and more than 20 employees who have served for over 20 years.
In 2025 alone, Sunset Air installed solar photovoltaic systems on 87 homes in Thurston County, helping residents generate clean energy and reduce their reliance on the grid. The company is also a certified ChargePoint installer and the only HVAC contractor in Thurston County selected to participate in Energize Thurston, Energize Olympia, and Solarize Thurston.
Sunset Air’s commitment to sustainability extends to its own operations. The company’s Lacey headquarters is the first privately owned LEED Gold-certified building in Washington State. In 2025, Sunset Air added its first electric vehicle to its fleet and installed EV charging stations at its headquarters for employees and visitors.
