My husband and I have used SS Air for 15 years to service a unit they originally installed. We just had to have a new unit installed and from Jesse coming out for an estimate, to the installation guys, Devin, Jerry, Brett and Patrick, they were all great. Ended up being the tiniest of leaks that most likely happened at installation but was so tiny it wasn’t discovered until now. We were not charged anything because of that. They were the third company I had come out for an estimate, and I definitely trusted them the most. Black Hills heating and cooling told me that I could not get a heat pump without also getting a new furnace and wanted to charge me $18,000. I only have an eight-year-old furnace so I didn’t really want to replace it And Sunset shared with me that I didn’t have to replace it. I could get a heat pump and they could connect it to my current furnace with the cost of $8000!!! I was thrilled with their honesty. They are really out to do what’s best for the customer and are not on commission so they’re not pushy sales people.Posted on Google

It is a complete upgrade of our comfort for life. Jessy the salesman covered every aspect of the technology. He described what we thought was hyperbole. N O T. The charming lead technician (Ian) and journeyman (Trevor) duo completely rescued us from years of worry & cost, by installing a flawless air-source heat pump. They arrived exactly on time (only two days) executed the job with maximum efficiency, and left the workspace immaculate. The comfort level advancement, and tech upgrade is astounding! Their elite craftsmanship shines through in the custom-built system, replacing EVERYTHING, even a special manual holder. When I asked about covering the exposed wires Ian meticulously gaff-wrapped said wiring, giving the finished product a sleek, protected look. They transformed a cluttered, clunky, leaking money sucking piece of mess into something that will out last our lifetime and the next homeowners will never have to deal with. No other technicians from any of the aforementioned rivals ever did what these men did. They turned our HVAC into a sleek Rolls Royce instead of a junkyard jalopy. Romeo Liwanag2 May 2026My gas furnace was due for replacement at my rental property and my goal was to have it replaced in 2026 before it became an emergency. As for any major home projects, I got my three bids. Sunset Air gave me the best & lowest bid. I was happy with that since Sunset Air also replaced my gas furnace in 2021 with AC at my primary residence in Lacey. My hats off to Project Manager Jesse Cherry for his excellent work with his survey, estimate & bid. Jesse was also the PM who took care of my furnace installation in Lacey. Jesse answered all my questions, provided me with helpful information regarding the new system, and resolved the uneven heat issue that my tenant was experiencing by making sure that the installers fixed a duct that completely came off the pipe. My kudos to the outstanding work of the two installers Tyler Miller and Devin Steiner. The furnace was located up in the attic on the second floor which made the installation a bit more challenging. The pathways for the new ducts, pipes, AC refrigerant, and electrical circuit added to the difficulty of the system installation. At first, Tyler & Devin weren't sure if they can complete the job as originally planned in 2 days. They showed great teamwork, worked hard, and completed the job in 2 days. Tyler & Devin also did a great job installing the new Ecobee Smart Thermostat with sensors and taking the time to show my tenant Susan how to operate it on the unit and through the phone application. I also want to acknowledge the great customer service I received from Sunset Air's office staff Heather who did the scheduling and Nadeen who processed my payments over the phone and arranged the permitting and final inspections with City of Tacoma and Pierce County. I would highly endorse and recommend Sunset Air for anyone who is looking or need new heating and cooling system or services.Posted on Google

Found the problem with our heat pump in minutes and quickly repaired. My wife works with Sunset Air in her business. When we relapsed our heat pump they were able to figure out why our first one failed so quickly. The contractor had not put in enough cold air return. They have always been on time and on budget, with complete explanations of what needed to be done and wh¥. You won't go wrong by having Sunset Air install/repair your HVAC system. Michael talked us through the design options, cost and expected installation process. We are very happy with the new system. The Enphase app allow you to monitor power production / consumption and select an operation profile that maximizes energy independence, minimizes your electricity bill or simply call for full power backup. I have had nothing but ACTUAL customer service and care from Melody and Bradley in trying to figure out a duct cleaning and repair. I have found that many businesses go through the motions in order to get people in and out, and as a former educator turned small business owner, these individuals are the type of people I would trust to handle my business in my times of absence. They are genuine, caring, carried out actual conversations with laughter and interest, and most important to me, feel human. I did not feel like a customer in the traditional sense, but more of a friend working with solid people, which is exactly how businesses should be run. Although we have not finished the job yet due to needing duct repair work prior to cleaning, I will recommend this location from now on with full enthusiasm, and will use them if/when my store needs any of this type of work.Posted on Google

After a failed attempt to get someone out to do a bid, we got a tip to call Sunset Air from a friend. So glad we did! Dane came out when he said he would (less than a week during a very busy time), showed us our options, gave us a quote, and 2 weeks later we were up and running! My husband was home during the install, which was just 2 days and exactly what we were told it would be, and he said the guys were amazing. Very knowledgeable, very professional, and, apparently, pretty funny to boot! Jia-Hua Lin20 November 2025After a year of consideration and the expiring tax incentive, we decided to go with a heat pump installation. We had 4 estimates in hand. Sunset Air stood out among them: they offered value on a reliable brand name system. Project manager Jesse considered our balance of financial burden and the wish to get a reliable system. He never tried to up-sell us additional optional features like others did. Sunset Air takes care of rebates available to us from their end to save us the extra steps and time requesting them. On the installation days, the techs were super friendly and explained everything that would happen. An special shout-out to Cecil! Professional, patient, and attentive to us throughout the process. Every staff members I encountered, no matter in person or various support staff over the phone demonstrated the highest standard of professionalism and courtesy to a customer. The 2-week follow-up walk-through, the one-month later duct cleaning (Well done, Bradley!) have been all pleasant and educational. Most importantly, this is a true local business to us, just 7 minutes down the road. Excellent company, top-notch people! This was our first time having them, and we are now hooked. Follow-up and update (Nov. 6, 2023) - A few months ago, we had Sunset Air install a mini-split heat pump (see above) for a guest room in our home, and we liked that whole install process from start to finish. Here we are submitting another new review which is the encore evaluation for a larger heat pump system for the entire home. Again, we worked with the Jesse to go over the best system for our home, and then worked with Erik to review the install plans. Then we had the install team with Ian to set up the heat pump in the span of two (2) days. Awesome! Then Michael visited for a follow-up in the next week to make sure all is running smooth and he reviewed controls and the dynamics of heat pump technology. The heat pump is working great for our home. The thermostat is easy to use even though space-age smart with touch control on your wall or with app on your phone. Steven R26 September 2025Due to the recent wildfire smoke of Aug/Sept 2025 it was time for our semi-annual inspection/cleaning of our furnace and Carrier A/C unit. Today Robbie Stratton of Sunset Air was our service provider. Robbie was great! He replaced the air filters (pretty heavy with dust), inspected and cleaned our furnace, and inspected and cleaned our outdoor A/C unit. As I have some health concerns (asthma/stroke recovery), Robbie took the time to not only show me how to operate the fresh air controller (the physical controls), but WHEN to set the timer interval for certain times of the day and how LONG to allow the fresh air to enter the ventilation system. This information was most important to me as it reduced my exposure to smoky air and it will greatly improve the efficiency of the furnace and A/C system. In my case he suggested 15 minutes of fresh air at around 11 pm and 4 am. I very highly recommend Robbie and Sunset Air for any of your Heating or A/C service needs. Kramer arrived to perform our semi-annual inspection/cleaning of our furnace and Carrier A/C unit. He arrived at the scheduled time and had all of the tools, filters, hoses, and ladders needed to perform the job. Kramer was prompt, professional, and trained me on the proper settings for the fresh air controller. I was very pleased with the quality of service and I would recommend Sunset A/C and Heating for any of your service needs.Posted on Google

I put in a work order for Mon at 8 AM and the 2 repair men came exactly at 8 AM! They were very quick to remove the old broken A/C and install the new one. They tested it to make sure it worked properly for A/C and heat. He also showed me how to use the thermostat correctly and he alerted me to the battery icon (I never noticed it) which indicated that the battery was low and had to be changed. Jerry Heitzman31 July 2025We used Sunset Air to install a new heat pump last month and are extremely happy with all aspects of the installation. I had received an estimate for a new heat pump two years earlier (from another provider) and Sunset Air's cost was almost $10,000 less...two years later. The heat pump and associated equipment was professionally installed in two days, without any hiccups! The men installing the equipment were professional , both in appearance as well as skill, and completed the job in the timeframe we had been provided. The new heat pump (a Daikin) is far quieter than our previous heat pump, and I believe it will be more cost efficient. The product has a 12 year guarantee on all parts and Sunset Air is remotely monitoring it for a one year period as a part of the installation guarantee.
